Toowoomba again!

This morning I participated in another economics experiment. It turned out to be one I had already done, where you choose probabilities of being paid based on the frequency of orange marbles. We also played a game based on risk assessment that I did fairly well on (though not as well as I did last time.) For 2 hours of clicking buttons, I made a nice $35. Also, I met a very nice girl (who sat next to me) and we talked during the break times.

After the experiment, she invited me over to her dorm room where we hung out and talked for a while. We had a very yummy lunch, and we made plans to make plans (hopefully for Easter break) and then I had to leave, so that I had time to pack up for the trip.

I went home and I packed (and packing always makes me feel like such a woman! Why can't I get through a weekend without FOUR pairs of shoes!? But I really did need all four! I swear!) At 3:00pm, Tony picked me up and we went back to his house while his wife finished getting ready. At 4pm, the three of us left for Toowoomba!

Toowoomba is about an hour and a half (almost 2 hours) west of Brisbane so we drove and drove and drove, and eventually got to our hotel rooms at the Park Motor Inn.

We had just enough time to put our stuff down and then we had to leave to go to the opening ceremony for the District 6930 conference.

About 2 hours later, everyone from my club went to Fibber Magees for dinner. At this point, I was able to meet a lot of Rotarians from my club, and I talked to a bunch of different people. I also met 3 girls from the Roteract club that my Rotary club is sponsoring.

After dinner and hanging out for a while, we made our way back to the hotel (it was probably about midnight at this point!). I found I couldn't sleep because of the crazy student schedule I am on, and so I stayed up and read until 3am. Which was not so good for me, seeing as how I had to be up at 6:45am to get ready before the conference started at 8am.

You know, that 100 mile, over 2 hour drive would have been a lot better if you'd flown from Brisbane to Toowoomba which I estimate to be approximately 70 nautical miles, and you probably could have made it in an hour in a small, dumpy plane (faster in a better one). :-)
