Rotary Conference for Scholars and Alumni

This morning I met Ray Brand, who is the Foundation Chairman for my Rotary District. He picked me up, and we went over to the University of Queensland for the conference for Ambassadorial, Peace, and Cultural Scholars.

It was great to be able to meet other students who are here studying abroad. I met Maya from Papua New Guinea (who is on her way to New Zealand), and Yuko from Japan, and Lindsey, who is from Boca Raton. I met Sophia and Emma from Taiwan, and Peter from Fiji. I also got to meet some more Rotarians, which was good.

We had morning tea and then discussions about "What is Rotary?" and "What is the Rotary Foundation?" We were able to break in smaller groups, and discuss our specific scholarships, and talk about problems we may be facing, or might have to face.

After lunch, we heard from Darryl Krook, who is an alumnus of the scholarship program. He told us about his time abroad, and how the experience has affected his life in many positive ways. What a great motivational speech!
