Today my journeys included the City Botanic Gardens. (There are three botanic gardens in the city, with two of them right in the city center, as well as some beautifully landscaped "parklands" alongside the river.) Of course, I forgot to pack a lunch, a picnic blanket, and a book, but I will remember next time.

It wouldn't be a garden without some random sculptures:

If you walk walk walk through the gardens, eventually you find some more sculptures and the the river:





If you keep walking along the river, it eventually turns into mangroves:

With the kangaroo point cliffs in the background:

According to wiki: The Kangaroo Point Cliffs are not natural. They were created by a quarrying operation which mined the volcanic rock or rhyolite lava flows which form the cliffs. These lavas were deposited in the Tertiary period about 30 million years ago and filled up an ancient river valley. They currently form the banks of the Brisbane River.
Apparently, lots of people like to climb them, but I didn't see any today.
